Basics on Camping Trips
One great way to spend time together outdoors with your family is a camping trip. It is also an enjoyable activity for an individual. Either option offers the peace and tranquility that can only be found in nature, and the forest is an ideal place to escape to for a while. car hire alicante airport For some, camping is an annual ritual, while others have only thought or dreamed about it. In both cases it is important to know what to bring along and what to leave home. Here are a few basics:
Tents: Be certain you have picked out a tent that is going to keep you safe, warm, and dry. Remember that you are going to be out in the wild, and there won’t be any hotel rooms that you can go into. Make sure the tent is something you can put together easily, and that it will be large enough to shelter you and the others who may be with you.
Food: You’ll want staples such as dried fruit, nuts, beans, and dried meat. If you plan on cooking you need to make plans to bring items for that, and to store foods and beverages that need to be kept refrigerated in a cooler. Most campgrounds have ice available, but they often don’t allow hunting. This is not the time for you to try providing for your family by trying your hunting skills. Or your fishing skills, for that matter.
First Aid Kit: This is always an important thing to have. Keep it somewhere that is quick to get to in a hurry. There will be many opportunities to get cuts and scrapes, trip over tree roots and get hurt, get into poison ivy, get burns from the campfire or matches, etc. Make sure the kit contains alcohol, bandages, antiseptic, band-aids, bug spray, and anything else that seems like it may be useful. And don’t forget the sunscreen!
Flashlights: When you are in the forest there aren’t any streetlights, and it gets really dark once the sun goes down. Ideally, each person that is on the camping trip should have his or her own flashlight so the tent can be found in the dark. You should bring two or three flashlights, at least, along with an extra one and plenty of batteries.
